Bert

Saturday, April 17, 2004

I was the lucky dog picked to go home with my owners when they came to meet some Shelties in Lafayette.  I just had a connection with my mom right away. Her son, who is a recent Purdue University graduate, gave her SRGL's website for her birthday, along with the promise of a Sheltie from the website.  You see, their family had just lost their Sheltie of 16 years last May.  This spring they were ready to add a new member to their family. I was the one.  I rode next to my new mom on the 2 1/2 hour trip to my new home.  One problem when I got there.....stairs.  I had never done stairs, and I was very scared.  But I wanted to be with my new family, so with a little coaxing and love, I threw caution to the wind and conquered that fear quickly.  I knew I had a great thing going here, and I didn't want to blow it.  I am home to stay.

Bo Jangles

Saturday, April 24, 2004

I am Bo Jangles.  I am the handsome one on the left.  As you can see I have two shelties to share my new home with.  Cody (aka Buddy) on the right was the first dog adopted from Sheltie Rescue of Greater Lafayette.  I guess that makes him special but I think I am special now also.  Molly is the one in the middle.  I was in another foster home for a while and then went to Don and Marilyn's for fostering.  They must love me as I get to stay.  I am only 2 years old so I plan to live with Don & Marilyn for a long time.  My last owners didn't want me and turned me into a Humane Society.  Now I feel loved and safe.  I have a big yard to play in and take long walks with my dad.   What could be better for a little sheltie boy!!

Brody

Brody's new family recently lost their adored Sheltie mix.  Duchess, their 3 year old Dalmatian/Lab mix really missed the companionship of that little dog and was grieving badly.  While it was clear, they could not replace their little one, they could start anew, and that is when they saw the picture and description of Brody on our website.  That is when they fell in love.  Phone calls, a faxed application and lots of e-mails helped speed up the process, as this family was not going to let Brody get away.  First night in their home, he was giving kisses galore.  Way to go Brody.  You got a wonderful home.

Buddy Boy

Saturday, May 1, 2004

I went to the Sheltie Rescue Birthday Party and met Mary and Gil.  They were there with their other adopted sheltie, Reggie.  They thought I was pretty cute.  I think they liked me as soon as they saw me. They were surprised I was 8 as I am so playful.   My old family did not have enough time for me.  Now I have a mom and dad that are home all the time and a sheltie brother, Reggie, that was also adopted from Sheltie Rescue.  We always have someone at home to play with and take us for walks.  Mom says she is getting plenty of walks since they took me home.   I will never be lonely again!!  I have my very own new bed.

Lucky

Saturday, May 1, 2004

I am Lucky and I feel like one 'lucky" sheltie boy.  I was adopted by a wonderful family with two kids and boy do I love kids.  They can play with me all the time and I will love it.  Brenda, my new mom, drove a long way to adopt me.  That makes me feel pretty special.  I came into rescue with another sheltie named Bert.  He has been adopted so we both have new homes and will be special to our new families.  I am a big boy and have been on a diet.  My new mom promised she would help me stay on my diet.  They lost their other sheltie and he was a big guy too.  So I guess size doesn't matter to them.  They have more of me to love.  I am young so I will have many wonderful years with my new family.  I have been told I have a big yard to run and play in with the kids.
