Katie

Friday, January 2, 2004

Katie was turned into the Humane Society when she failed to produce another litter.  She had puppies many times in her seven years.  No more pups for her after Sheltie Rescue picked her up.  She is a seven year old blue merle beauty.  Her coat had been shaved but is growing back and is so soft. She was adopted by a wonderful family that fell in love when they first saw her on the webpage.  Mike, Mary, Megan and Mick met her and they knew she was meant to be a part of their family.  Who could resist her adorable face.  Katie now has two sheltie sisters and a big back yard she explored her first day there.  She has lots of love to give and has found the family with lots to give her.  She is following her new mom everywhere.  Her foster mom misses her but knows she has a wonderful new family to love and protect her.

Shelby

Wednesday, January 7, 2004

Shelby has been in rescue two times.  With her first placement, her new owner loved her so much but her allergies would not allow her to keep Shelby.   Giving her back to Sheltie Rescue was a sad day for her.  After returning to her foster home, she soon felt at home again.  Her foster mom at first thought she would adopt her but knows she needs the space open for other shelties in need.  She was again offered for adoption.   Shelby then met Gladys, her daughter-in-law and granddaughter.  Shelby turned on her charm and looked at Gladys with her cute little face.  Gladys wanted to make her part of her family.  Shelby was taken to her home to meet Wilfred.   Shelby made herself at home.   Even the grandkids have come to meet Shelby.  They all call her a keeper.  She will be the only dog and given all the attention she deserves.  Waiting for her were a new bed and new toys.  This little darling has a family to call her own.

Slider

Wednesday, January 14, 2004

Slider was one day away from euthanasia when Sheltie Rescue made arrangements to take him into rescue.  His previous family turned him into the Humane Society as they decided they didn't want him since they were having a baby!  He immediately won the hearts of his foster parents.  Even though they have had nearly 60 foster dogs, Slider was one of the best.   He seemed to love everyone he met even his first day in rescue.  He is a well behaved and playful young man that will be 2 in the spring.  He has found a loving home with Jeff and his mom and dad.  He shares his new home with a little dog and 2 birds.  He will get lots of attention and have someone to play ball with him.   His new family wanted a friendly happy sheltie and Slider is that guy.  He loves to go for car rides and his new family plans on taking him for many rides.

Sarah

Saturday, January 24, 2004

Sara was adopted by a wonderful family that lives in Michigan.  Her previous owner could no longer care for her because of health problems.   She now shares her new home with loving parents, a 15 year old son, a sheltie brother named Spencer and a cat.  Her start in her new home was a little rough as Sara became sick with the "Sheltie Flu".  Now she is on the mend and learning to go up and down the stairs and to race to the door, barking of course, when her new mom and dad come home.  Her mom thinks she mighty try fly ball and agility with her.  She is feeling more at home with every day and with a family that will give her the patience and love she deserves.

Benny

Sunday, March 7, 2004

I can't believe how wonderful Sheltie Rescue has been to me since I was dumped in the middle of the night at a Humane Society.  First I had a wonderful foster mom named Michele.  She let me sleep in her bed the first night I was there.  After several weeks, a nice lady named Bobbie inquired about me.  She had adopted my new brother, Cody, from Sheltie Rescue in November.  She fell in love with my picture even though I am not all sheltie.  I made the trip to Chicago to meet my new family.  It was a long way but I was a good boy and now have a family to call my own.  I share my new home with 3 dogs and several cats.  I am learning to be a big city dog.  I now have a family with plenty of love for me and my siblings.  My new mom is calling me Benji because she thinks I am so cute.
