Dallas

Dallas
is the first sheltie from Sheltie Rescue of Greater
Lafayette who actually picked out his family. He
was at the PetSmart Adoptathon along with many other
shelties. His new mom and dad were looking at other
dogs. His dad sat down on the floor to pet the
dogs, and Dallas went right up to him and sat on his
lap. He certainly got their attention and the rest
is history. He loves his fenced in back yard, and
enjoys playing with his two new brothers. After a
trial visit, the Johnson family said it would be an
honor to adopt Dallas. He is home to stay. |

I was a sad
little boy when I came into rescue as my owner
had died. I had been fed deli meat but I am now
eating dog food. I have enjoyed the many walks
at my foster home which has helped me to take
off a few pounds. I am more active now than I
was when I came into rescue. When I went to
visit my new family for the first time, I felt
like I was home. I sat beside Rebecca. Tom and
Rebecca thought I was so cute. I don't even
mind that I will share the my new house with a
guinea pig, a bunny and a rescued cat. I hope
we can be playmates. I think I will like my new
home and know they will spoil and love me a lot. |

Sheik & Shelly

Shelly
Sheik
Sheik was a 12 year
old senior boy that came into rescue because his
owner died. Little Shelly, a 9 year old senior
girl, was found as a stray and then given to
Sheltie Rescue. Both of these special shelties
won the hearts of their foster homes. When
Brenda Hammond, a wonderful friend to all
shelties, especially the older ones, saw
Shelly's picture on our webpage she wanted to
meet her. Sheik went along for the meeting in
hopes he might be a resident dog a at Nursing
Home where Brenda works. When that didn't work,
Sheik had already won the heart of his new mom.
It was love at first sight with Shelly and after
only one day in their home Sheik and
Shelly became family members. They are sharing
their new home with several shelties. Gail,
Brenda's husband, will arrive home from Florida
shortly and will get to meet his new "kids".
They are feeling very special as they should
know that they are home forever. Sheik reminds
Brenda of a collie she had as a child. We are
all happy for Sheik and Shelly.

Hoosier
Tuesday, September 30,
2003

Hoosier came into
rescue because he was too active. He was crated
most of the time and when he was "free" he
didn't want to come back into the house. Even
though he was obedience trained and even shown
in obedience, he was rowdy when out of his cage.
Since coming into rescue, he has been one happy
little sheltie. No Crate!!! He is now sharing
his home with Gretchen, a collie and his buddy,
and Clara, a sheltie, that isn't sure she wants
him to stay forever. There are also 4 cats and
one bird. He will never be lonely. He won the
hearts of two foster homes before he was adopted
by Donna and her husband Jeff. He follows Jeff
everywhere. They fell in love with him just
looking at his pictures before they met. It
didn't take long for Donna and Jeff to know he
was the dog for them. Way to go Hoosier. Now you
can be free to run and play all the time.
Everyone that has met Hoosier thinks he so cute.
