Welcome
to Sheltie Rescue of Greater Lafayette,
Indiana. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit,
volunteer organization founded to help find
loving homes for abused, abandoned,
neglected and surrendered Shelties in the
Lafayette, Indiana area.
All Shelties in our rescue program will
be treated for medical problems, spayed
or neutered, given vaccinations, checked
for heartworm and put on preventative.
They are then fostered in loving homes
to determine temperament in order to
properly place the dog with the perfect
family.
If you are looking to adopt
a Sheltie or if you have a
Sheltie that you need to get
into our program, please

Rusty ~

Rusty is a
5-year-old neutered male something. He
fits right in with all the Shelties
although he is a bit larger than a
standard Sheltie.
This sweet guy was
allowed to run loose and developed
heartworms. He was successfully
treated, but then was chained up because
he liked to chase cars. His mouth is a
mess (a lot of old trauma, missing
teeth, gum damage, etc.) but he is not
in any discomfort and has no trouble
eating dry kibble.
Rusty is always in
a good mood. He is happy, entertains
himself with toys, loves to chase birds,
rides beautifully in the car, and gets
along with everyone. He is a delight to
have around. He is house-trained and
quickly figured out how to use a
dog-door. So he’s also smart. And he’s
up-to-date on all his shots and
heartworm preventative.
This is a dog you
would look forward to coming home to.
If you don’t have any prejudice against
a mixed-breed dog, this is the guy for
you! Call us today so you can meet
Rusty and consider being his Forever
Home.

WHAT RESCUE CAN DO

CHAPTER 1
Molly is a senior Sheltie-girl who
had to be relinquished by her owner,
who could not care for her. Molly
had an advanced dermatitis infection
from fleas when she came to Rescue,
so the first order of business was
to get her some relief! With proper
medical care and flea preventative,
Molly immediately started showing
signs of improvement. She didn’t
itch, the skin didn’t look as angry,
and the hair started growing back
in.
CHAPTER 2
Mrs. P was along in years and
depended a lot on her family and
caretakers to get around and do
things. One Sunday her daughter
brought her to a Sheltie Rescue
adoption event at PetsMart, where
Molly was being offered for
adoption. It was love at first
sight! On both sides! Molly went
right over to Mrs. P and put her
head in her lap, looking up at the
lady while she was being petted. We
knew this was meant to be!
EPILOGUE
Today, Molly lives with Mrs. P and
has brought her an enormous amount
of joy and
pleasure. Molly is playful and
obedient, not too noisy, and the
delight of her new
owner. Mrs. P is walking more,
playing more, and enjoying every
second of her days with her precious
Sheltie.
Sheltie Rescue is proud to have
brought together this senior lady
and this senior Sheltie to live out
their days together.
